Cool Stuff II
This is a video of a group called "Los Caracuaros." They are a musical group that plays traditional Mexican music from th Michoacan region. It's from a performance in 2005 at the Culturas Populares Music of Coyoacan in Mexico City. There is a violin, string bass, and guitar.
This is a video of a lecture about the use of African rhythms in Latin American music, specifically Brazillian music. It's very interesting!
This is a short but awesome video of a man playing the pan flute and charango!

When I saw the first video, I was reminded of my experiences with mariachi bands in restaurants in Mexico and here. In a restaurant, the mariachis walk around from table to table taking requests (for a modest fee, of course!) and they use a bass guitar instead of the string bass. Very often there is also a trumpet and it can get quite loud. It's fun, though. I also enjoyed the lecture (and yes, I did watch the whole thing). The fact that he started out with a familiar piece did help. Solo guitar is just so nice. And the panpipe/charango player was also a hoot! It's always amazing to me what some people invent to do!
ReplyDeletethe second video that u have posted!!! lol
ReplyDeleteI have the same video posted on mine...hahaha
it's about twenty minute lecture but IT IS really
interesting isn't it?
I thought the last video was really AWSOME!!
especially because I can't multi-task and play two
different instruments at the same time!!!!!!
That's just fantastic!!!
I also liked the videos. They were so cool. I definitely agree that they remind me of the mariachi bands. I think it is always fun and entertaining. It is also impressive in the last video when there were two different instruments being played. Being a musically challenged person, it blew my mind!
